Program Description

1. Program introduction (less than 400 characters):

This program is a systematic teaching of Chinese painting with a focus on the copying of the miniature landscape paintings of the Song people and calligraphy and seal carving, supplemented by art investigation. There are professional studies on calligraphy and seal carving, copying of miniature landscape paintings of the Song people, and art investigation. Based on the principle of "focusing on key points, developing advantages and highlighting characteristics", this major gives full play to the curriculum advantages of the School of Chinese Painting, and develops characteristic major construction ideas together with key courses such as calligraphy and seal carving, copying of the miniature landscape paintings of the Song people and art investigation, so as to build a complete teaching system of modern Chinese painting.

Through this course, students can preliminarily master the formation, evolution and writing techniques of calligraphy, as well as the internal relationship between calligraphy structure, brushwork, charm and painting works. Through the study of seal carving, students can basically master how to make Baiwen and Zhuwen seals. Students can understand the differences and characteristics of various seal themes such as sealing clay, inscriptions, Han seals, ancient seals, names, and free seals.

Through this course and by appreciating the masterpieces of miniature landscape paintings of the Song people, students can understand the artistic characteristics, evolution and development as well as the style and characteristics of landscape paintings in the Song Dynasty, and have a deeper understanding of the style characteristics, expression methods and painting languages of landscape paintings in the Song Dynasty.

This course systematically investigates the four museums, three sceneries, two parks, one mountain, one temple and one street in Hubei. From the perspective of historical and cultural exploration, artistic literacy, ecological humanity and artistic aesthetics, the course focuses on experiencing the cultural and artistic characteristics of the Three Kingdoms in Jingzhou by visiting them, broadens students' horizons, and enables them to absorb rich nutrients and essence from traditional culture, folk art and human history.

Has been awarded the projects funded by the China National Arts Fund. Works have been exhibited in the 13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts, created the large-scale creation project commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March---Blood Battle in Xiangjiang, and Homology--the 2nd National China Painting Exhibition.
